Dehradun: Two persons have been killed after debris from a landslide hit a dozen houses as heavy overnight rains lashed a number of places across Uttarakhand. The administration has used an alert for people living near lakes and rivers.
Schools in most districts of the state have remained closed as the meterological department has warned of heavy rains in the coming days.
In Nainital one person was killed as a tree uprooted by heavy rain fell upon his while another person was drowned while trying to cross a river near Ramnagar.
Traffic has also been badly affected due to the rain which resulted in massive landslides.
The government control rooms have been put on high alert and the leaves of government officials and in the district have been cancelled.
Electricity and water supply has also been hit due to the rains in different parts of the Kumaon region including Nainital.
