Trinankur, TMCP’s Next President

Kolkata: Trinankur Bhattacharya, as speculated, is leading in the race to become
the next TMCP president after the position was left vacant with the removal of Jaya
Dutta. Speculations were rife that someone close to Abhishek Banerjee will be
elected as the next TMCP chief.

Trinankur Bhattacharya is from Barasat University and an important person belonging
to the Trinamool Congress Chatra Sanghatan’s state committee. He earned more ears
after his speech at the TMCP foundation day rally.

According to sources, Partha Bhowmick, MLA of Naihati, is very close to Abhishek
Banerjee. He has been seen with Abhishek at several programmes. Trinankur has a
very close relationshio with Partha. Partha had put Trinankur forward to give his
speech at the TMCP foundation rally.

Rumana, Lagnajita and Trinankur gave speeches in the rally on August 28. Former
TMCP chief Jaya Dutta was not allowed to give speech. Trinankur gave an excellent
speech leaving behind his other two peers. According to sources, TMC supremo Mamata
Banerjee was also impressed with his speech. However, many from the party also
opined that a good speech cannot be a criteria to grab an important position.

Trinankur said, “I believe in the principles of Mamata Banerjee. I try to follow
the path laid down by her. I want to do politics well. Hence, by getting some
position will not be the last thing in my political career. Also, not getting a
position cannot stop me from politics. So, I am not greedy about any position.
Instead, I would like to establish myself as a trusted soldier.”

Trinankur further added, “A nice generation of the students is being created. The
advent of the student power under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee can be seen. In
future, this generation of students will become the criteria of politics. They will
take forward the country. They will be able to stop communal riots.”

On his speech at the TMCP foundation day, Trinankur said, “Someone gives a good
speech, whereas someone is good in something else. So, I believe that by giving a
good speech does not mean that I have become the number one candidate.”

A core committee meeting with six members of TMCP is scheduled at September 8 at
the Trinamool Bhawan. The meeting is expected to decide the next TMCP head.
According to sources, Trinankur has been called in this meeting.
