Kolkata: The upcoming Lok Sabha by poll of Bangaon constituency seems to take an interesting turn with BJP likely to nominate Subrata Thakur, son of Manjul Krishna Thakur a member of Mamata’s Cabinet as its candidate.
According to sources, his name has already been sent to BJP’s high command in Delhi for approval. the seat fell vacant after Trinamool MP Kapil Krishna Thakur Passed away in October last year. His widow Mamatabala Thakur’s name was doing the rounds as the next candidate in the Trinamool ranks but Minister Manjul Krishna Thakur and his associates in the party want to field in his son Subrata as the candidate.
BJP which is trying to set its foot in the bordering constituency may take a surprising step by fielding in Subrata and try to widen the rising cracks within the TMC family of the influential Thakurs of the area.
There are also rumors that Ex Trinamool MP Sucharu Halder’s son Sumit Halder may get BJP ticket for this constitution, though top BJP leaders of the state have refused to comment on the issue. Everthing is likely to be cleared within the next couple of days.
