Tokyo: An earthquake measuring 5.9 magnitude struck off Japan’s northeast coast on Monday. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage. The quake was 80km (50 miles) deep and centred 132km (82 miles) north northeast of Hachinohe, Honshu, the US geological survey said.
No Tsunami alert has been sounded so far. A quake measuring 7.8 strike Japan’s Bonin Island last week.
