Update: At least 36 passengers were injured, 10 of them seriously, as six bogies of the Jabalpur-Nizamuddin Mahakaushal Express derailed early today in neighbouring Mahoba.
Lucknow: Eight coaches of Mahakoshal Express have derailed near Kulpahar, a town in Uttar Pradesh around 270 km from state capital Lucknow on Thursday early morning.
Eyewitnesses present at the spot said around 6 individuals were injured in the incident and have been rushed to the hospital. The train was on way to Delhi from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. Among the derailed coaches are four air conditioned and four general compartments. The railway police and the administration officials have reached the spot, sources said.
The district magistrate has also reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
Rescue operation underway.
