Tamluk: A tragic bus accident took place in Digha on Thursday morning near Nandakumar 116B National highway in Karanmore of East Midnapore in West Bengal. The accident claimed the life of a pedestrian named Devbrat Shaw (46). It is known that the deceased was a resident of this area.
According to local sources, residents of the area heard a huge crash sound on Thursday morning following with the screaming of several people. Locals rushed to the spot fearing any danger and saw a passenger bus turned turtle beside the road. The bereaved passengers were crying for help to survive. Soon the locals got together and started to rescue the passengers. After the police reached the spot immediately after getting the information.
On this day, at around 6 am, the deceased Devbrat was on his way to work. The private bus carrying several passengers of Digha-Itaberiya route lost control and hit him straight, said some eye witnesses. An then the bus hit an electricity pole beside the road. After the incident driver of the bus fled.
Devbrat was immediately taken to a local hospital as he was critically injured but the doctors declared him brought dead. Local residents blocked the road after the news of the accident spread. As a result, a long traffic congestion on the Digha-Nandakumar road was created in the morning. Police reached the spot immediately after getting information. Later the protesters removed the resumed the blockade making the traffic situation normal.
