Top LeT Commander Abu Bakr Killed In Sopore Encounter

Jammu: The 6-hour-long encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore has come to an end after security forces killed a top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander.

LeT commander Abu Bakr was holed up in a residential house in Bomai. The security forces blasted the building where he was hiding and firing from. Earlier today, a terrorist was killed in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district.

Security forces had cordoned off Bomai village near Sopore after a tip-off about the presence of a Lashkar militant in a residential house in the town. As forces approached the house in question, they were fired upon by the militant. Abu Bakr was killed in retaliatory firing by security forces, bringing the encounter to an end.

In another encounter in Jammu and Kashmir earlier in the day, a terrorist was killed in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir.
