Kolkata: Police have arrested a woman and apprehended her 17-year-old son for allegedly kidnapping a 14-yearold minor, holding her hostage for two days and finally raping her. The incident has been reported from Deshapran Sashmal Road in the Charu Market police station area. Cops called the case a rare one, given that the mother of an accused rarely gets arrested in rape case.
According to police, the victim -a minor schoolgirl from Khariberia -had stuck a friendship with the boy , who is presently a first-year student of a south Kolkata college. He used to study in a reputable city school.
The boy allegedly met the girl on August 10 at a popular restaurant after which he persuaded her to come to his flat. The two accused then allegedly confined the survivor in their flat for the next 48 hours. The minor boy even allegedly raped her after threatening her with dire consequences.
Aftyer she returned home on Friday, the girl’s mother lodged an FIR after which the accused were arrested. “A medical test of the girl has confirmed physical assault. Her statement will be recorded before a magistrate,” said police.
“Charges under the stringent POCSO Act have been slapped on both the accused. While the mother has been sent to judicial custody, the minor boy has been sent to a juvenile home. Further investigation is on.
The accused have claimed the girl had stayed with them on her own will.We are looking at call record details to establish the exact chain of events,” said a senior officer. In another incident, a tutor who allegedly ran a bluefilm racket using some of his students -all aged between 8 and 12 years -has been arrested from the Ultadanga area on Thursday. Police said that the accused charged nominal fees from the students and forced them to get involved in obscene acts.
