Kolkata: West Bengal Trinamool Congress leader Firhad Hakim announced that the
first party office will be opened at Guwahati in Assam. He will inaugarate it on
Thursday.

The TMC party had sent its representatives in Assam over the NRC issue. But the
team had to return soon after landing in Silchar, after facing pressure. Soon after
this, an FIR was lodged against chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

But the minister paid no heed to these. On questioning that this time too the TMC
is going to Assam to obstacles, Hakim said, “India is a democratic country. Any
person can go to any party of their country as part of their fundamental right.
Amit Shah comes to our place and speaks ill about us. But still we give place for
him to conduct programmes. The state police stays with them for their safety. It is
natural that a communal party will try and sto a non-communal party. But we will
continue with our fight.”

Hakim further stated, “Trinamool have always stood by the oppressed people. We had
stayed by the refugees during the liberation war in Bangladesh. Even today, Mamata
Banerjee is by the oppressed people. Many former ministers, MLA and other important
people have joined hands with us. Trinamool will become stronger in Assam in
future.”
