Kolkata: Firhad (Boby) Hakim submitted his nomination paper for the position of mayor in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) on Wednesday. The voting for the mayor position is on December 3.

Out of 141 wards of KMC, TMC holds 122 wards out of it. Hence, it is just the wait of time for Firhad to get elected to the Mayor post. However, BJP candidate Mina Devi Purohit will contest against Firhad for the post.

BJP’s participation is being seen as a challenge against TMC. It needs mention that the Left and Vongress councillors will not participate in the Mayor election. On Wednesday Firhad submitted his nomination papers to Harihar Prasad Mandal, KMC secretary. Future deputy mayor Atin Ghosh was with him.

Hakim said that he is unaware which candidate is fielding against him. But on December 3, after being elected as the mayor, he would like to speak to the media.
