TMC Red Faced As Nearly 5000 Workers Join BJP


Kolkata: In less than a month since the Lok Sabha election results showed BJP making deep inroads into West Bengal as nearly 5000 grassroots workers of North 24 Parganas joined BJP.

Senior leaders of the Barrackpore District Association of BJP welcomed Dilip Ghosh and Arjun Singh for their victory at Naihati railway ground on Thursday. The meeting was attended by state president Dilip Ghosh and Arjun Singh of Barakpur Lok Sabha constituency, Saurav Singh, Barakpur organizing district president Falguni Patra, and thousands of BJP supporters. On this occasion, about 5000 Trinamool Congress supporters from different parts of North 24 Parganas joined the BJP on the occasion of this victory rally.

Two Trinamool Congress MLAs, Subhranshu Roy from Bijpur and Tushar Kanti Bhattacharjee from Bishnupur joined the saffron brigade today. The other MLA who sought BJP membership was CPI(M) legislator from Hemtabad Devendra Roy.

“Like the elections were held in seven phases in West Bengal, joinings in BJP will also happen in seven phases. Today was just the first phase,” BJP’s national general secretary Kailash Vijayavargiya, said hinting at more such joining due to take place in future to.
