Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress on Wednesday opposed the cabinet decision on the closure of the Burn and Standard Company. The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the closure of the Burn Standard Company Ltd (BSCL).
“This decision has been taken in view of the continuous poor physical and financial performance of the company for more than 10 years despite financial assistance and other support provided by the government, and low probability of its revival in the future,” the cabinet release said.
Opposing the cabinet decision, the TMC has said that they have already submitted notices in both Houses of Parliament. “TMC strongly opposes the cabinet decision on Burn Standard. We have submitted notices in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha against the decision,” the TMC statement said.
