Kolkata: Arabul Islam, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and former MLA of Bhangar (South 24-Parganas) met with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Kalighat on Friday.
Arabul Islam has been accused of attempting to murder a member of his own party. Arabul Islam was at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Kalighat house for about 20 minutes. He refused to comment about his 20-minute meeting with the CM, after he came out of the CM’s house.
As per sources, Mijanur Rahaman, an employee of Bhangar’s number 2 Panchayet Samiti, was shot on July 25. After this incident, complaint was filed against Arabul Islam and his aides.
Trinamool Congress Party’s MLA Abdul Rezzaq Mollah, at a rally in Polerhat, demanded the arrest of Arabul Islam over this incident. This has put Arabul Islam in pressure, as per the political sphere. It is being suspected that Arabul approached Mamata Banerjee to inform her about the incident.
