TMC Leader Killed In Factional Feud


Bardhaman: Trinamool leader Kamrul Sheikh (54) alias Pocha was killed due to the factional feud before the sixth phase of polling. The incident happened at Alipore village of Khandaghosh.

On Sunday night, he was attacked by a group of Trinamool miscreants. Later he died in Burdwan Medical College Hospital on Monday morning. Four more grassroots activists were seriously injured in this incident.

Kamrul Sheikh has been identified as CPM activist, by Trinamool Congress block president Aparthib Islam. At the same time, CPM’s District Secretary Achintya Mallik said that the deceased Kamrul Sheikh was the party worker. Kamrul Sheikh’s elder brother Sheikh Naser Ali filed a written complaint at Khandaghosh Police Station. Although Naser Ali did not write his brother’s political identity separately in charge sheet. Twenty seven TMC leaders name included in the complain .

The deceased nephew Sheikh Sarafat said that Kamrul Sheikh has been leading the Trinamool Congress since 1998 by Moazzem Hossain alias Mani. They clarified that Kamrul Sheikh was murdered in a planned way after factional feud. After being hit on his head, he was beaten with a rod. He died after being brought to Burdwan Medical College Hospital in critical condition at night.

Abhishek Bandyopadhyay is coming to the election campaign rally in Khandaghosh on Friday. On Sunday night when Amirul Sheikh and some other locals sat at tea stalls, suddenly a group of grassroots activists led by local grassroots leader Tutul attacked Kamrul Sheikh.

Meanwhile, intense tension spread throughout the area after this incident. Block president Aparthib Islam said, Kamrul Sheikh used to do CPM. On Sunday night, CPM supporters led by him were vandalized 3 houses of Trinamool supporters. And then the villagers chased them. Later, Kamrul was injured. Later he died. The president of the Khandaghosh Zila Parishad Shampa Dhar said that the report has been sought from the block leader about the identity of Kamrul Sheikh.
