Kamarhati: Birbhum’s TMC leader Ashis De was seen in the Kamarhati constituency allegedly influencing the voters by providing them with glucose water, on Monday, in the Phase 4 Bengal Assembly Elections.
Ashis De was seen distributing glucose water to the voters and operating the voting process. The opposition has raised questions about his presence in a constituency from which he is not contesting. The opposition presumes that he is working on behalf of Madan Mitra.
Madan Mitra complained of chest pain and wanted to go to the SSKM Hospital on Sunday. But the doctors who examined him said that he need not be shifted as he was not that serious. The opposition points out that since he could not go to the hospital, hence could not proceed with the operation of the voting process and thus Ashis De was there acting on his behalf.
TMC leader Ashis De denied such allegations. He said that if CPM leaders Sitaram Yechury and Prakash Karat could visit Bengal, then why he can not visit being from Bengal. He said that he gave glucose water to the voters so that they do not fall ill. He added that he is talking to the voters and entering the polling booth. The opposition raises question here. They doubt that how could a leader from a different constituency visit another constituency. They have requested the police for taking legal action against him and arrest him.
