Kolkata: TMC leader Anwar Khan has been arrested at last from Dumdum’s Seven Tanks. He was absconding from morning after police started a frantic search. Anwar made derogatory remarks against EC. Later, police started a wild goose chase. Police searched his house in Kashipur Udyanbati area, but in vain. Anwar’s relatives informed that he went to his doctor for treatment.
At last police got his hold from his relative’s house in Dumdum’s Seven Tanks. The issue raised eyebrows among all and sundry, with opposition slamming TMC. Anwar’s arrest will surely bring back some confidence today. After all, the whole day has seen unabated violence throughout Bengal. People are very dissapointed with EC’s surveillance– how could Anwar escape that? Faith in state police has got totally dented with this election.
Unabated violence continues in the third phase of the West Bengal Assembly polls. TMC leader Anwar who openly challenged the Election Commission, today morning, has been declared absconding after CP of Kolkata, Soumen Mitra issued instructions to take action against him.
In Cossipore, Anwar Khan said to his workers on Thursday that voting process must be conducted in such a manner that the Election Commission would be booted away. The Election Commission must be maligned and tainted. Certainly the EC did not take well, such derogatory remarks.
This became a good opportunity for the opposition to criticize Anwar’s remarks. They pointed out that earlier CM Mamata Banerjee had openly vented her anger on EC saying that she won’t be abiding the constitutional body’s diktat. And now the TMC leader Anwar Khan seems to have stepped onto her shoes.
