TMC Feud Outbursts Bout Of Violence Ahead Of Panchayat Election

Cooch Behar: The Dinhata subdivision of Cooch Behar district has witnessed another bout of violence between alleged supporters of the Trinamool Congress and its youth wing.

On Saturday night, a group of Trinamool supporters allegedly attacked members of the youth wing at Bhetaguri.

“Some youths were returning home from a fair when a group of armed Trinamool supporters attacked them. As the Trinamool group was large, the party’s young members had to run away, leaving their bikes behind. One youth was assaulted and the three bikes were set on fire,” said Narayan Sharma, a youth Trinamool leader of Dinhata-I block.

Ananta Burman, a Trinamool leader in Bhetaguri, said the youths had attacked homes of Trinamool workers and assaulted women. “When the miscreants came for the second time on motorcycles, people set their bikes on fire,” he added.
