TMC Factional Feud In South Dinajpur

Balurghat: Factionalism within the Trinamool Congress party broke out on Monday at South Dinajpur injuring atleast 20 activists.

The incident took place at Sonahan village in Pundari area at Harirampur in South Dinajpur over the acquisition of a government-aided pond. The clash broke out between activists of former district president Biplab Mitra and another TMC leader Subhasish Pal. An acquaintance of Biplam Mitra, Mobarak Hossain’s house was ransacked. Followers of Subhasis Pal have been accused of conducting the attack.

Ateast 20 activists, including women, were injured. 7 out of them have been admitted to the Harirampur Block Hospital. The rest have been discharged after primary treatment. A huge police force under the leadership of SDPO has been deployed in the area to bring the situation under control. Activists from both sides have lodged complaints in the Harirampur police station. No arrests have been made yet.
