Mysore: Prathap Simha, BJP MP from Mysuru, has received death threat on his Facebook account as a consequence of which the police have deployed security for him.
The threat comes in the wake of the MP’s comments relating to the controversial birth anniversary celebrations of the erstwhile rule of Mysuru, Tipu Sultan. As many as three people were killed and half-a-dozen people injured in violence two days ago in Madikeri.
The threat has been posted on the MP’s Facebook account by a group called “Mysuru Tiger Shahide Millat Mahan Tippu Sultan.” “If you speak against Muslims for political gains, you will meet the same fate,” says the post, which has tagged the picture of an unknown dead person.
“The MP informed me over the phone about the threat and we considered it as a complaint. We have given him adequate police security,” said Mysuru City Police Commissioner B Dayananda.
