Bhubaneshwar: TMC MP Sudip Banerjee has been granted bail by the Odisha court in connection with the Rose Valley scam. Sudip’s family and close aides are overjoyed with the decision.
Sudip Bandopadhyay’s wife Naina is relieved with the development. “Sudip is extremely unwell. Therefore he was granted bail. We are thankful to the court for the order,” she said.
She had filed a complaint soon after Sudip’s arrest in January alleging that she was not informed of his arrest. She also alleged that none of the family members were informed as to where Bandyopadhyay was taken after the arrest.
The MP would also not be allowed to go to any foreign land. He was granted bail on medical grounds. He will released on Saturday, but the CBI will appeal against this decision in the Supreme Court.
The prerequisites include a bail bond of 25 lakhs of rupees and submission of passport to the to the officer investigating the Rose Valley issue.
The court rejected CBI’s petition against Sudip Banerjee for influencing people. He cannot even influence or intimidate witnesses or the investigation.
TMC parliamentary party leader in the Lok Sabha was arrested in January this year by CBI in connection with the alleged Rose Valley chit fund scam. While in judicial custody, the 63-year ailing MP has been suffering from heart and pancreas disorders.
