Tezpur: Known for its serene natural beauty and a colourfull culture, the northeastern state of Assam has again made it to the headlines. Achieving another feat Teazpur in Assam tops the list of least polluted city in India, according to a report published by World Health Organization (WHO).
Tezpur is a city and Urban Agglomeration and the administrative headquarters and municipal board of Sonitpur district in the state of Assam in northeastern India. Tezpur is a fastest growing City on the banks of the river Brahmaputra and is the largest of the north bank towns with a population exceeding 100,000. It is 175 kilometres northeast of Guwahati, considered to be the “Cultural Capital of Assam”.
A total of 122 cities across India were considered by WHO for analysing air pollution levels.
After Tezpur, Pathanamthitta in Kerela stands second followed by Hassan in Karnataka as third. Altogether, WHO tested pollution levels in 2,973 cities around the world. Onitsa in Nigeria and Zabol in Iran are listed as the most polluted cities in the world!
