‘Terrorized’ By Police, Mamata Vents Anger At EC

Chandipur: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission alleging bias. Mamata bashed EC and accused the Central forces of unleashing terror following Delhi’s diktat, addressing a rally at East Midnapore’s Chandipur.

“The Centre and opposition in collaboration with the Central forces have unleashed terror mocking the entire electoral process.” Mamata said.

“I have never seen polls to be held in so many phases. This is nothing but a conspiracy by Delhi and EC to sabotage the voting process.” She added.

The commendable job done by the state police along with Central forces by thwarting any attempt to manipulate the voting process, mostly blamed on Ruling party goons,  have also acted as a catalyst to Mamata’s furry.

“A few police personnel have collaborated with the Central forces to terrorize the voters. I have not witnessed such chaos earlier. They will have to pay for this” A furious Mamata said.

She had earlier raised questions about the deployment of central forces and the use of section 144. She re-questioned them today. She said that if section 144 is used then how will the voters come out of their house and cast their fundamental right. She accused the central forces of terrorizing all during the elections.

Mamata Banerjee spoke against the CPM-Cong Alliance too. She said the alliance have been helping the state police and the central forces to unleash terror in different parts of the state. She has even accused the media of potraying events.

She has accused the state police of working under the instructions of the Election Commission. She has challenged both the police and the EC, She even pointed out that the EC has been following orders from the CPM, Congress and the BJP. She blamed the EC for terrorizing the state through the local police.

Mamata Banerjee though accepted that she has not seen such a pleasant election in none of the other states before.

The EC did an amazing job for the Bengal assembly polls. After the death of a CPM cadre in Domkol in the third phase, EC became stricter. They held emergency meetings before every voting phases. They held video conferences with the State CEO. The removed several IPS officers , SPs, Inspectors, etc to ensure free and fair poll in West Bengal. It needs mention that the EC removed CP Rajiv Kumar and replaced him with Soumen Mitra . Rajiv Kumar was removed for having powerful links with the ruling party. CP Soumen Mitra did a commendable job.

Apart from EC, the state of WB witnessed the incredible job done by the state police and the central forces. From dispersing crowds to helping voters in overcoming their fears so that they could vote, we saw them helping every voter in every way possible. Apart from a few sporadic incidents, no major violence was reported in the remaining phases. The penultimate Phase 5 polls saw no major incidents during the polls.
