Terrorists may target schools during Republic day Celebrations

Jammu: In the wake of the Republic day celebrations, terrorists are waiting at the international border to cross over to the Indian side to carry out strikes throughout the country. The commanding officer of 16 Corps of the Army, Lt General K H Singh said that terrorists may strike at soft targets like schools, army convoys and civilian areas where casualty will be higher than usual.

The Lt General also said that the army is fully prepared to counter any activity from the enemy’s side and will defeat them.

He also said that the Pakistan Army, ISI and the terrorists are working hand-in-hand to engineer terrorist activities on Indian soil.

He said that 80-90 terrorists are present in the Jammu region. Among them 37 are presently active. He also said that the terrorists are not in a position to carry out their activities since the security agencies and the Indian Army has stepped up security measures ahead of 26 January celebrations.

He added that nearly 200 terrorists are waiting along the international border for the opportunity to cross the LoC but the army has foiled 15 infiltration attempts in the area.

He also added that since the army has stepped up vigilance along the Pakistan border terrorists may try to infiltrate through the Nepal border but security agencies are alert to foil all their attempts.
