Kolkata: Averting a major terror strike planned by the Islamic terrorists in West Bengal on the eve of Independence Day, police busted a terror den in Murshidabad district’s Raghunathganj area and recovered a huge cache containing around 100 kgs of explosive. Cops also nabbed two suspected Jihadis during the raid.
Intelligence Agencies have earlier sounded alert of a major terror attack in Kolkata and across the state. The arrested persons identified as Aftab Sheikh and Rafiqul Islam are currently being interrogated by the cops.
On the other hand, following IB alert security has been beefed up in the state. Police have launched a massive search operation after the recovery. The cops conducted search in Birbhum and Bolpur station.
The recovery of such a huge dump of explosives sent ripples of concern in the security establishment, a central intelligence team has been rushed to the spot after the incident.
