Tension in North-East Delhi over communal clashes

New Delhi: Tension spread in Sri Ram Colony in North-East Delhi between two communities over an event organized by local RSS unit at a park.  Vigilance has been enhanced in the area after a clash took place on June 28 over the holding of a ‘Shakha’.

Jt Commissioner of Police Sanjay Beniwal said, “We are keeping a close watch on the situation even though there is no chance of any communal clash. It is a dispute related to sharing of a public space in the congested area.”

According to locals, a group of young boys from the minority community were playing badminton at the park when some RSS volunteers went there to hold the shakha.

An FIR has been lodged at the Khajurikhas Police station over a clash that had taken place when the boys refused to vacate the park for RSS to hold the programme.
