Ten killed, scores injured in Afghan suicide attack

Kabul: Ten people are reported to have been killed and several others wounded in a suicide attack in the northern Faryab province of Afghanistan, according to officials.

A prominent Member of Parliament, Dr Naqibullah Fayeq, said the blast happened in Alamar district’s main market.

He said that dozens of civilians were wounded after a suicide bomber using a motorcycle blew his explosives up in the centre of the market.

According to sources, the apparent target of this suicide attack was Afghan security forces but most of the injured are civilians.

The death toll may rise with many injured reported to be in a critical condition. No one has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
