Chandigarh: The fairytale romance between cricketer Yuvraj Singh and actress Hazel Keech has turned a fresh chapter with the couple readying to tie the knot on Wednesday, 30 November 2016, in a gurudwara ceremony.
Indian Cricket Team was staying in Chandigarh for the Test against England in Mohali, Yuvraj and Hazel’s bash saw all the players troop in to celebrate.
Virat Kohli, looking dapper in a black kurta with a beige stole, walked in with Murali Vijay, Parthiv Patel and Ishant Sharma. Others from the cricket fraternity included Ashish Nehra, Mohammad Kaif and Kapil Dev.
Yuvraj and Hazel met at a party in 2011, and the cricketer recently said in an interview, that he was immediately taken by her smile. However, despite a pleasant chat, during which he complimented her on her role in Bodyguard, Hazel didn’t respond to his invitations for coffee dates.
It was only in 2014 that Hazel did agree to go out with Yuvraj, and clearly, this time round, Cupid found his mark because after dating for a while, the couple got engaged in Bali.
“Yes, I am engaged ’cause I found a friend for life in Hazel,” Yuvraj announced on Twitter, while his ladylove responded with: “I am so thankful to have found such an amazing person”.
Yuvraj and Hazel have both stayed fairly quiet about their wedding details. We do know that an invite was sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We do know that the couple is going in for two ceremonies: a Sikh one at Baba Ram Singh Ganduan Wale’s dera in Duffera (the Singhs consider the Baba their spiritual leader) this afternoon (30 November), followed by a Hindu ceremony in laidback Goa on 2 December. A reception has been planned in Delhi for 7 December.
Yuvraj wanted to wrap up the wedding ceremonies before his 35th birthday on 12 December. While the wedding itself is being kept fairly low key and private, the pre-wedding festivities have all the hallmarks of what the English cricket team called “a big, fat Punjabi celebration”.
At her mehendi, Hazel glowed in an orange and gold lehenga. An ornate gold maang-teeka made for statement jewellery. As per reports, her intricate mehendi took three hours to complete. But what got everyone’s attention was the sangeet/cocktail party on Tuesday evening in Chandigarh.
Yuvraj’s mother Shabnam and brother Zoravar played hosts, while his father Yograj was also seen at the venue. Yuvraj and Hazel greeted their guests and a few members of the media in the lobby of their hotel just before the celebrations kicked off. Yuvraj wore a stately black bandhgala, while Hazel chose a cream and gold lehenga over which she wore a long, black, embellished jacket. “Starting a new innings today,” Yuvraj wrote on Instagram, sharing an image of himself with Hazel.
