Kolkata: Author Taslima Nasreen have finally spoken about her take on the heckling of poet Srijato at Assam’s Silchar.
Few days ago, the poet was attacked at a programme by some Hindutva activists. Soon after the attack, chief minister Mamata Banerjee called him up to assure him of his safety. The intellectuals are protesting against the attack. Sirshendu Mukherjee, Joy Goswami, Kousik Sen, Tilottama Majumder and others have stood by Srijato and condemned the attack on him.
But now, Taslima Nasreen have taken to the social media to ask why was there no protest in Kolkata over the the ban on her book.
In her facebook post, she wrote, “Why are there no protests in the city when I am attacked or when my book is banned?” She also wrote,”কলকাতার হাতে গোনা কিছু মানুষ ছাড়া অশিক্ষিত শিক্ষিত, মূর্খ বুদ্ধিমান, অলেখক লেখক, মুসলমান হিন্দু , আস্তিক নাস্তিক বিশ্বাস করে,আমি অনাগরিক, সুতরাং আমার অত বাক স্বাধীনতা থাকার দরকার নেই।”
