New Delhi: A CRPF jawan posted for the Security of Exiled Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen has reportedly tried to commit suicide outside Tasleema’s residence by shooting himself from his service rifle.
According to sources, the incident occurred on Monday at around 6:30 PM when the constable named S Varghese fired a shot from his INSAS rifle near his left year outside Nasreen’s home in south Delhi.
He was immediately rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre and is reportedly out of danger. He is associated with the 70th battalion of the force and has been deployed to look after the security of Tasleema Nasreen. Senior CRPF officials immediately rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation and a Court of Inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
