Chennai: A few days after the mishap at Frenc daily, ‘Charlie Hebdo’, a threat letter, reading ‘Yesterday Paris — Charlie Hebdo, tomorrow Dinamalar ’, created a panic in the office of the Tamil daily in Royapettah on Monday.
The Chennai police are probing the threat claimed to have been sent by The Base Moment of the al-Qaeda.
According to police sources, the letter was addressed to the Editor of the newspaper and was received at its office on Whites Road.
“The letter had a map of India with the threat message typed across. There was a photograph of Osama bin Laden on the right hand side with ‘by al-Qaeda’ message typed in English and Arabic,” said an investigating officer.
The letter seems to have been posted from Coimbatore with the sender’s address reading The Base Moment, 3/10 Ukkadam, Kovai, Tamil Nadu.
An investigation is under way on the origin of the letter and whether the sender’s address is authentic.
