Aizawl: Swine Flu extended its grip to the so far unaffected North-Eastern state Mizoram, reporting the first case of the epidemic in the hills.
Pachau Lalmalsawma, the Nodal Officer of IDSP (Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme) told the infected women was in Delhi for a brief time and perhaps got infected there. She was diagnosed with the disease after her blood sample was tested at National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Disease (NICED) Kolkata.
The State Health Department had already initiated steps to stall further contamination. Rapid Response Teams have been sent to the Districts to maintain strict vigil.
The government of Mizoram has been sending the situation report to Emergency Medical Relief (EMR) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare since the last part of 2014.
