‘Swach Bharat’ Postal Stamp introduced


New Delhi: On 15 August 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called for the ‘Swach Bharat Abhiyan’. The campaign formally started on Gandhi Jayanti i.e. on 2 October 2014.

Today on the 68th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi the central Government launched Postal Stamp keeping in mind the mission. The stamp was published by Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology Sri Ravi Shankar Prasad.

The Government has published three postal stamps of five rupees each. The Government has planned to complete the Abhiyan by the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in 2019.

Government sources said that 62,000 cr rupees will be spent in the project. The project has been described as something beyond politics and is inspired by Nationalism.
