Suspended DU Professor GN Saibaba granted bail


Mumbai: G N Saibaba, the suspended Delhi University professor who was arrested for alleged Maoist links was granted temporary bail on Tuesday by the Bombay High Court considering his deteriorating health conditions.

Announcing the bail of Saibaba, a division bench of Chief ustice Mohit Shah and Justice S B Shkre said, “We are satisfied that if Saibaba is not released on temporary bail for medical treatment then there is a chance that his life will be at risk. This court would be failing in its duty to protect the fundamental right of Saibaba”

The court ordered the release wheel chair- bound Saibaba, who has been lodged in Nagpur prison ever since he was arrested last year by the Maharashtra police, on a bail bond of Rs 50,000.
