Paris: A teacher has been stabbed early Monday morning at a public elementary school in a suburb of Paris, and French anti-terrorism police are now investigating the incident after the assailant reportedly cited the Islamic State group.
Paris prosecutor’s office spokeswoman, Agnes Thibault-Lecivre says anti-terrorism authorities are looking into the incident and the assailant is at large.
Police have confirmed that the teacher’s life is not in danger but was attacked with a sharp object such as a box-cutter or scissors.
No children were in the school at the time.
The incident comes as France remains under a state of emergency after Nov. 13 attacks by extremists linked to the Islamic State group that killed 130 people.
