New Delhi: Two groups of bike-borne assailants exchanged fire on an open city street in Saket area on Sunday night. A 30-year-old man was killed in the firing, police said.
Police said the incident took place in the Khirki Extension area at around 8pm as two rival gangs from Madangir and Ambedkar Nagar clashed.
The victim, identified as one Iqbal, was a property dealer who allegedly also had criminals cases registered against him in Delhi, police said.
Iqbal was a resident of Tigri Extension in south Delhi. The local police officers as well as Iqbal’s family members have suspected the involvement of Sangam-Vihar based Babli-gang behind his murder. Police sources said the attackers had association with the Raju Gangwal gang that was involved in both the previous gang war cases.
A case of murder has been registered. Police lodged an investigation to probe the matter.
