New Delhi: The controversy surrounding the Senior BJP leaders in Lalitgate takes another interesting turn with documents revealing that External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s husband Swaraj Kaushal being offed a position on the board on one of Modi’s companies.
According to an email accessed by NDTV, Lalit Modi asked Kaushal, his lawyer for years, to become an alternate director at Mumbai-based chemicals firm Indofil, adding fuel to fire over the opposition renewing its demands for Swaraj’s resignation.
Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje are in the midst of the controversy surrounding former IPL Chief Lalit Modi over their alleged help extended to him for procuring UK travel documents.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has stood by both the leaders and has rejected the resignation demand of the opposition. Both Kaushal and Indofil Chairman KK Modi, who is also the father of Lalit Modi have denied the allegations.
KK Modi said, ““Lalit Modi proposed Swaraj Kaushal be given the post of an alternate director, a proposal he later withdrew. Thus the board of directors never considered his name. We have never had any discussions with Kaushal over the same.”
Kaushal rejected the accusation saying that he was offered the post but didn’t agree to take up the job.
