Sushma Pays Homage To Mahasweta Devi, But Quotes Wrong Books

New Delhi: Union External Minister Sushma Swaraj in her homage to Mahasweta Devi on Twitter has done what can be least expected from a Cabinet Minister.  Swaraj paid her respects to the celebrated writer by quoting books never written by her.

She mentioned Bakul Katha and Pratham Pratishruti, books which are actually penned down by Ashapurna Devi, another decorated author. Sushma not only has written wrong names but has surprisingly also expressed how these books had a long lasting impact on her.

She was 90 and was on ventilation from past two months. Getting a tribute for work never done surely does not suit the stature like Mahashweta Devi’s, specially after demise.

Well, for someone who is so prompt on twitter responses this is perhaps the last and least expected from a leader. She, however, had deleted the tweet. But, the damage was already done.
