Suicide bombing kills 17 in Afghanistan


Kabul: A suicide bombing rocked the Khost Province of Afghanistan killing 17 people and injuring 37 including an Parliamentarian.

The bombing happened at 9:30 am, the home ministry said in a statement. The statement said, “The interior ministry strongly condemns the cowardly terrorist attack in Khost city that claimed 17 lives and injured 37 others.”

The attack took place when hundreds of people were protesting against acting Khost provincial Governor Jabbar Naeemi demanding his termination.

Hours after the incident, a statement was sent by the acting Governer of Khost Province which put the dead at 16 and the injured at 40.

Chief executive of the Afghan Government Abdullah Abdullah has condemned the attack and has asked the security agencies to initiate a thorough investigation into the matter and bring into justice the persons involved behinf the massacre.

No one has yet claimed the responsibility of the attacks, but it is being widely suspected that Taliban is the main conspirator in the case.
