Kolkata: TMC candidate from North Kolkata constituency Sudip Banerjee is leading by almost 3,000 votes. The TMC workers have already started celebrating over the victory of Banerjee. They are outside Netaji Indoor stadium with party flags and green colour.
Banerjee has already been in jail over the Sarada-Narada issue. As a result, it was being thought that people will choose BJP candidate Rahul Sinha over him. But the vote results prove that the people have once again put their trust in Banerjee.
The early trends do not sound good to the TMC. The TMC is ahead in 23 seats out of 42. The exit polls had predicted that BJP will get 18 seats. From getting 2 seats in 2014 Lok Sabha elections to getting so many, proves that people have put their trust in Modi again.
