Allahabad: Protests erupted in Allahabad following the death of a lawyer who was allegedly shot by a police sub inspector. The incident took place at around 2.00 pm, police spokesperson Mrityunjay Mishra said. The advocate, identified as Mohd Nabi.
The nearby shopkeepers have claimed that after a little verbal spat with the advocate, named Nabi Ahmed, the SI Shailendra Singh took out his service revolver and opened fire on his chest. The advocate was immediately rushed to the hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
The lawyers were highly agitated with the behaviour of police and they created ruckus around the are, a burning down several buses, trucks and motor-bikes and even resorted to pelting stones at the police and vandalized the SSP office. To take control over the situation, heavy police force had been deployed in the region.
