Strong Earthquake Rocks Los Angeles


Los Angeles: The tremor occurred just before 12:30 p.m. local time south of Santa Cruz Island and was felt as far away as Los Angeles, according to the USGS.

Sgt. Eric Buscho, public information officer for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, says they have received no reports of significant injuries or damage, or an influx of 911 calls, in time since earthquake struck.

The quake was initially reported as a magnitude 5.0 and upgraded later to 5.3 but there is no tsunami danger.
