Kolkata: After free medicine in government hospitals, the West Bengal government will distribute free soap and shampoo in the state, manufactured by state run pharmaceutical units.
State government has sanctioned Rs 5.75 crore to modernize the State Pharmacopeial Laboratory and Pharmacy of Indian Medicine and Production will be started at kalyani factory.
The Kalyani unit will also produce various Ayurvedic products like chavanprash, anti-fungal cream etc.
State Minister Ashish Banerjee said that the Kalyani unit has already received an order of Rs 58 Lakh for ayurvedic medicine from the government. He further added that various MOU’s have been signed with Universities and Ayurvedic Institutes to gather steam for the project.
