Raiganj: Food Minister Jyotipriya Mallik on Thursday announced that digital ration cards will be issued in various blocks of Raiganj district from June 10.
Mallik who inaugurated the ‘Food Security Bill’ for the districts’ for Raiganj ‘Jila Parishad’ also said that according to the initiative of state government the food security bill has also been implemented in South Dinajpur and Cooch Behar.
The bill will benefit a total of 19, 98, 279 people. The beneficiaries will get 35 kg of food grain. Out of the total beneficiaries 19, 10, 982 people belong to the minority community.
Out of a total population of 9 crore 60 lakh in West Bengal, the bill will benefit 6 crore 1 lakh people in a phased manner. Mallik also said that initiative has been taken to ward of the menace of middle men in issuing ration cards in the state.
