Kolkata: The Bengal Government will set up a centre of excellence on cyber security in order to successfully confront cyber crimes. The centre will be located either at Sector V in Salt Lake or in New Town.
The Information Technology Department will conduct a week-long workshop where talks will be held with Kolkata Police and some knowledge partners to imbibe the best practices of cyber security in the proposed centre of excellence. The nodal partner for the venture will be Indian Institute of Information Technology, Kalyani.
The cyber security centre will collect, analyse and disseminate information on cyber security incidents, execute emergency measures, co-ordinate response and issue guidelines, advisories and vulnerability notes.
It will act as a monitoring authority for the state, which would look at every single incident and incorporate the information for research and development.
