Kolkata: Protesting against the policies of the Centre, the Left trade unions have called for a nationwide strike on January 8 and 9. The Left had urged the TMC to support their strike.

However, the state government did not lend out its support, and have instead come out with ways to tackle the strike. It has published a notification stating that no state government employees will be able to take any holiday without any valid reason from January 7 to 10.

The notification states that no state government employees will be allowed to remain absent the day before and after strike day. Hence, no absent from January 7 to 10 or else they will be show caused.

However, if any particular employee is admitted to hospital for any illness or any other accident before January 4 or has applied for leave from before, then they will not fall under this category.
