State Education Minister garlands Abdul Kalam’s photo, says, nothing wrong done

Ranchi: In a shocking incident Jharkhand Education Minister Neera Yadav paid respect to Former Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam by garlanding his photo at an event in Kodarma.

The incident has raised questions over the lack of knowledge of a state education minister as she garlanded a living person which is against the Hindu customs.

The Prinicipal of the school was present on the occasion along with Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Manish Jaiswal. Yadav was invited in the school as chief guest for inaugurating smart classes in the school. Before the inauguration, she garlanded the photo of former President.

However, Yadav defended her act saying that in schools photos of great leaders are garlanded to honour them and it is way to pay respect. She said that there is nothing wrong in garlanding the picture of a great scientist like Kalam.
