State Buses To Get Own FM Channel

Kolkata: Bengal’s state transport undertaking (STU) will launch its own FM channel called Surodhara to entertain and inform its passengers as well as earn revenue, state state transport minister Suvendu Adhikari revealed.

Initially, the channel will be available in 323 AC buses. Later, it will be rolled out in non-AC buses as well.

“We have seen that people listen to radio while they are on the move. So, we advertised seeking bids on launching as well as operating the station. Selvel emerged the winner. We will be earning Rs 60 lakh per year, without investing anything,” said WBTC managing director Narayan Swarup Nigam.

Initially after the launch, the station will play music, run traffic and weather news.
