State BJP Leader Arrested On Extortion Charges


Kolkata: Bidhannagar police have been arrested a state BJP leader in connection with extortion and threatening on Thursday. The state BJP leader is none other than Suvankar Basu.

According to police he has been arrested for threatening a journalist and demanded Rs 2 lakh from him. There is also a complaint of molestation against him.

According to state BJP sources, he is never on Party’s good-book. Suvankar was expelled from the party many times for his bad deeds. But after this new allegations, state BJP party did not want to take responsibility of him. State leaders shut their mouth on that issue.

The case was lodged under section 387, 354B, 506 and 509 of IPC penal code. Police said that a Journalist Anup Kumar penned down the scam of LPG connection. And for this reason he got threat from the leader and asked to give Rs 2 lakh.

Besides these Suvankar tried to defame a lady earlier. The lady already lodged a complaint in West Bengal Commission for Women in July. Bidhannagar Police started investigation on that issue.
