Sreesanth, Chandila, Chavan acquitted in IPL spot fixing case


New Delhi: In a major setback for the Delhi police, Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Saturday discharged all accused cricketers S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing case.

The court discharged all 36 accused who were arrested by police since no evidences were found against them. All 36 accused are presently out on bail.

42 people including underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and Chota Shakeel were chargesheeted by police.

The accused were chargesheeted for offences of cheating, criminal conspiracy under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and under provisions of the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

According to police Dawood was the kingpin of the racket and were declared proclaimed offenders in the case.
