Spurious Liquor Claims Six Lives In Burdwan

Burdwan : Six persons died and thirty others fell ill after allegedly consuming spurious liquor at a village near Galsi here, police said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at Ramgopalpur village of the district on Monday, a police official said.

Six persons died and 30 others fell ill. They were taken to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital and Pursha Hospital for treatment, he said.

The condition of 18 people is stated to be serious, the officer said.

Earlier, many such incidents have been reported across the country. Recently, 39 people lost their lives due to consumption of toxic liquor in Pakistan.
